Problem for Volkswagen 1999 Jetta
Have a problem with the heater blower motor switch
have a problem with the heater blower motor switch on the 99 jetta. the blower is inoperative as well as the a.c. clutch. both faults happened at the same time. all fuses are good.

- thanks. just a quick question. where does the 12v. originate from that feeds the fan switch? also just out of curiosity, i was wondering if the 12v to the clutch runs through a mechanical switch somewhere in the air stream ? in other words, no airflow--open switch, airflow--closed switch?. many thanksSolution #1

If the blower does not power on in any speed it is possible for it to disable the ac clutch to keep the system from freezing up.If you are testing the power yourself, test to see if the blower has voltage at anytime in any speed,replace blower. if not I would say the switch is the issue.This would be my starting point in helping diagnose it.

The Ac clutch won't cut in if the blower fan isn't running. Check to see if you have power to the blower fan. If power is present, then the blower motor is no good. If power is not present, then you will need to likely replace the switch.

- The power comes from your fuse box, and relays. It then goes through the switch , to the blower, and then when the blower is powered, it realys to the AC clutch. The AC fan can't, won't cut in if the blower motor isn't running.Popular Solutions for 1999 Volkswagen Jetta
