my dashboard lights will come on for about 10 seconds, then they fade out. completely black. The fuses are good. the exterior light for the bed of the truck still turns on and off. The interior light has not worked for 10 years.

Maybe the dimmer portion of the headlamp switch is bad. What year is the truck? Some of these had a varying voltage resistor built in.
Take the thumb wheel out, make sure the connections are good. If they are, then most likely the thumbwheel switch needs to be replaces. It should be available at your local parts store

- This may have the dimmer as a seperate switch. Does it have a pull out headlamp switch or a rotary switch? If there is a seperate swiych it will a thumb wheel type.Nov 14, 2009
