bought a new battery and when I hooked it up my car alarm (did not know I had) it is going off and it also disables starting the car - I cannot find the switch to disable it

You need to find the little toggle switch so you can put the starting system back into the valet position. If not this is going to be a headache to you. You need to decide to have either have the current unit removed from the car or have a new system installed. Get prices for both and go from there.
