Where is the ignition switch on a 1997 ford

My 1997 Ford Explorer 4.0 is making a clicking sound when i try to start it. But it wont start. Could that be the ignition switch? My battery is fine.

Where is the ignition switch on a 1997 ford explorer, and how do i change it?

If it is making a rapid clicking sound while trying to start it, your battery is not fine. you can try to jump it. hook up the cables properly and allow the vehicle to sit for about 3-5 minutes. allow the "jumping" vehicle to just idle. reving the engine will not do anything.

Testimonial: "It dont make rapid clicks. Just one big click and thats it. "

2004 Ford Explorer wont click or turn over

First check the starter relay, see if it is getting voltage when the key is turned - if Yes and it is not clicking then the relay is bad, not very expensive. If the relay is not getting any voltage then either check the fuses to the ignition or the ignition switch itself.

It might be your anti-theft alarm system. When the car doesn't start, is there a ticking sound inside the car? If so, hit the unlock button a few times on your keyless entry remote, until the ticking stops, then try to start the car. Hopefully this helps.

96 ford explorer wont start. all power when turn key. nothing.

if it turns over from below, then its in the ignition switch and this also feeds power to the e.c.m. to make the engine fire so you either have a bad switch contact or the hot 12 volt wire to the ignition switch
