did you change the system away from original installation
If you did then it is no wonder that they are not helpful as it creates all sorts of problems for them
you will need to contact VW technicians /engineers to get radio codes if it is not in the owners manual that came with the car
The radio code is located in the owners manual. Usually on the radio flyer with a sticker showing the code. If you do not have that owners manual, you can call the VW dealer with you VIN number and they will get the code for you. They usually do not charge you for it, but it does take a little while for them to locate it in the system.
You must apply to your VW Dealership Service Department with your car and proof of ownership. Radio codes are not available else where as this would defeat the purpose of a code.
If the radio was ever replaced or repaired the radio will need pulled from the dash to read the serial number on it. Most dealers do not charge for this service if you are a regular customer but some do.
Have you checked in your owners manual in case the code was written in the book or the code card enclosed with it?
If you mean the RADIO Anti-theft code: Look at the owners' manual, there should be a card in the jacket with "RADIO CODE" on it with the procedure to reset it. If that's not there, call your dealer, give them the VIN and they'll help you out Anytime the battery is disconnected (or real low) you will have to do this. Please tell if this worked! -Tom
I SOLVED MY PROBLEM WITH MY RADIO , WHEN IT READS (SAFE) , HIT PROGRAM BUTTON , THEN NUMBERS 1000 SHOWS UP, THEN PUNCH IN CODE # FOR YOUR RADIO, AND THEN HOLD RIGHT SIDE OF SEEK BUTTON DOWN FOR ABOUT 2 SECONDS , THEN YER ROCKIN , HA,HA, ENTER THE WRONG CODE MORE THAN 2 TIMES AND YOU GOTTA WAIT FOR AN HOUR FOR THE UNIT TO UNLOCK , SO YOU CAN TRY AGAIN , BUT THE WHOLE THING TAKES 5 SECONDS
You will need to inquire from the VW Servive Center. The Dealer is one of the few people that can call in and get the radio code.
First check your Owner's Manual in case a prior owner wrote it down insed the manual. Also look for a sticker inside the spare tire wheel well. For some model years VW placed the code on a sticker and then put it in that location. My daughter has a 98 VW Beetle and we had to inquire of the Service Department. They didn't charge us to obtain the code, and it took less than 5 minutes to obtain.
I assume you have this unlocked by now, but here's an answer for someone else for the future :-) if you have the original radio that come with the car, look in the wheel well in the trunk, where the spare tire goes. (yep, you'll need to stand on your head). there is a sticker that will have the 4-digit code on it. enter that into the radio. I can't remember off the top of my head which one it is, but either the >> Scan or the am/fm button will be the "enter key"
