The bronco starts but the motor dies after the ignition switch or key is released. I found that when the ignition switch is turned to start the motor, an "ignition module " mounted inside the steering wheel plastic covers was split open. This "module" contains a sliding switch that keps the electrical circuits hot when the key is tuned on. When it opens like mine the contacts are not able to provide voltage to the circuits and the motor dies.
