great question and you lost the operators guide
like 99% here.
are you asking how.
or what type fluid.
ill guess, type.
the car is really toyota corolla, in snake skins (rattle snake)
40million sold, (a record)
on many cars it uses same fluid as the autotransmission
ill look your up, now.
answer is DEXRON 6
use Dexron with the largest number in the end. 6 is today
same as your transmission.
A/t it is. 3sp or 4sp not the same. but R is same. wow, can you drive forward (the other shoe drops) can you move car in neutral brakes off by pushing it.by hand? yes, good . no?, brakes are locked up. ok, now i pretend you said, car goes forward in Drive. so next check fuses! then level ok , ok, dont guess how, read the book how. the shift'er moves cable and the other end fits to the side of the a/t manual valve. so, does this far end move to true reverse.? the cable is 1 to 1. and must move to Reverse actual. at the transmission, end.... do not get hurt testing parts engine running,.do not. get expert help, not seen here.
if only reverse fails, then transmission needs service. and the manual valve on side of box is in Reverse detent felt, then the trans is bad. if all this is confusing (as is normal trans is complex) then get car serviced.?
in shop we make sure levels ok then shift to reverse see that the box is really in reverse (this is called the reverse stall test failing and step, 2 is line pressure tests, in drive and reverse and the latter fails. trans is toast.
When the hood is popped, look for a cap that says ATF Fluid only. That is actually the power steering reservoir and not the transmission fluid fill location. I would recommend Dextron III or Dextron VI fluid for the power steering. Don't use your average power steering fluid, it says to only use ATF for a reason.
If your car is an automatic just use regular ATF or automatic transmission fluid. You can find this at Walmart or any parts shop. If its a manual transmission we will have to look up the year of your car to make sure of the right manual fluid to put in.
Hi:
If you have been loosing fluid for some time, and running the car with low fluid in the power steering pump, then the pump is most likely worn and causing your noise. Do you know where your leak is? You might need just a power steering hose, but no matter what, your power steering pump is the most likely cause of your noise!
If you do not see a dip stick then you will have to look under the car, it will be a 17mm inset nut, have the car running in N when putting the fluid in
