After sitting for any period of time my Accord is very difficult to start. Starter is kicking in, engine is cranking over but not catching. It will hook several times but once I let off the ignition it dies. Pumping the gas pedal seems to be the only way to get it to start, but it is still very VERY difficult. Any suggestions?

- It doesn't ever sit that long. It only has to sit a few hours and it is difficult to start. Basically whenever the engine cools down. I do have a check engine light on (been on for a while) and when I checked it- oxygen sensor...would that have anything to do with it by chance. I feel like it's something to do with my fuel system though because I really have to pump the gas pedal while turning the ignition to get it started. And it will catch plenty of times but then stall out. It is very frustrating :SClarification Request

Sounds like it is time to have you fuel pressure checked. Your fuel pump may be failing. Since your fuel pump is in the gas tank and the gas tank has to be removed to replace the fuel pump, you better have it checked before doing something as time-consuming (and expensive) as replacing it.

Any period of time? Gas viability is about 1 month now (according to Honda). Have you tried a good injector cleaner added to the gasoline? Also, you might try a good carb cleaner sprayed directly on and over the throttle plate (you'll have to remove the air cleaner large hose where it connects to the throttle housing, big thing with PGM-FI on the top, to do that).
