- The part cost around $27, and takes about an hour or so to repair. The following applies:
1.) Remove the plastic retention plug, and subsequent black plastic cover on the passenger side.
2.) Locate the Blower Motor Resistor by following the black and red wires connected into the blower motor. You will this part nestled very closely to the firewall.
3.) There are 3 screws holding this part in place. Loosen the two screws on the firewall side with a size 7/32" socket, and remove the screw closest to you (this will make the job much easier.
4.) There are 2 connections to remove prior to removing the part. Disconnect the Resistor from the Motor. Then Harnessing Strap going from the controller to the Resistor.
5.) Remove, Replace, and Perform steps in reverse and you'll be back in business.
Good Luck
It sounds like the blower resistor needs to be replaced and the blower motor it self. Auto Zone will have the blower and resistor that you need to replace and will have the step by step instructions for you to get the job done with common tools and will take about 2 hours if your good with tools. Good luck and keep me posted. Setting 5 should have 12 volts running to the blower motor so check the wire harness for voltage readings at the blower motor harness clip, you may only just need a new blower motor.

On a 1994 Chevy Astrovan 4.3L I have replaced the accumulator and compressor cycle switch. The cycle switch screws on to the accumulator. Does this switch use a washer or o ring because no matter how tight it's turned it will not stop leaking freon?

when I tried to start my car the battery was almost dead. I would turn the key and the lights would flicker ,the engine tried to turn over;then I heard a pop. I lifted the hood and saw steam coming out of a tube from the engine near where you fill the oil. Will this be an expesive fix. Does the engine oil flow through that tube.
