Whenever my car hits the rough road it starts making a sound. In a smooth road it runs like a new car, no sound at all. I am positive that the sound is coming from the bottom part of the steering. The sound is like any rod hitting the other rod but there is something in between. The sound is not like "cranck". It could be the joint of the steering and the section joining the two wheels. I have checked all portion of suspension, Link Rod, Tie Rod, Rack End Joint, Ball Joint, Jumping Rod etc. Where the problem could be? What else do I need to check? Is there anything called steering bush? I got the answer from some expert as “have you checked the front struts. have a trusted technician inspect the front end.” My next question is what are the parts that make the front struts? or if the front struts are a parts itself. Which part of the front end to be checked?
Do you hear the sound on a sharper sharp front, then stop, sharper reverse speed on a smooth road? Mine VW Jetta 84 does it, and it is caused by loose bolts (old rusty nuts can't tight), so that the whole front beam is loose. Hardly could be this on a 5-year car, but I have heard worse things for even newer, just the quality nowadays... If this is the reason, it is extremely dangerous, don't go past 50-60 km/h until you know the reason.
