I own 2001 Kia Optima LX, it has 121k miles on it. The check engine light is on, and recently it jerks when moving. It does not pickup speed. It moves at 20-40 miles/hour, then after a while it picks up speed. sometimes it just turns off and locks the steering wheel on the spot. The car is a manual transmission. Any idea of what could be the problem.

The locking steering wheel is a mystery to me , but the poor performance and check engine light make me think fuel filter / fuel pump.
I had a very bad experience with an 02 kia , only had 50,000 miles on it when the timing belt went and destroyed the engine , so........ i always mention to people with kia's to have the belt adjusted and inspected or replaced if you don't know how old the belt is.

My 2004 kia optima lx 4cly. is stuttering at 40 mph. yesterday It jerked so hard I thought the transmission was going to fall out... Any advice?

If the check engine light is on, have it scanned to determine what is causing the problem...If it's a transmission problem, it will also need to be diagnosed with testing equipment.

My check engine light keeps coming on on my 2004 kia optima lx, 4 cylinder dohc, a little over 92000 miles on it. I had the codes checked and got this result: Code P0320 definition: ignition/distributor...

Check with the place that checked the codes for you. Maybe they can test the IG sensor for you. That might help. Otherwise check all the connections relating to the sensor.

Each light has its own fuse. Have you checked them? Maybe try switching two of them to see if they swap which one works... Once in a while a fuse that looks good has actually gone bad. Comment on this post if this doesn't help and we can move to the next step. Good luck!

2001 Kia Optima - Stalls, hesitates,or works just fine!

I'd look for a vacum leak if the check engine light is not on. A good trick for this is while the engine is running take a propane torch, turn it on but dont light it. move it around in the engine compartment and when you get close to the vacume leak the engine will rev higher.

replace your gas cap and clear codes, then wait and see if light comes back on, if it does you have a more serious problem like a fuel tank leak or a defective fuel tank pressure sensor.
