Rearview mirror repair-The mirror just came off in my hand yesterday, leaving a circle of black film attached to the glass. In the past, I've repaired one with a small metal piece that hold the entire mirror with a set screw. Is there some way to do this with the Audi mirror?

- The reply from Gordanddar is generally correct. However, this is an Audi and I can't see any set screw or other way to get at the metal piece (I've done that kind of repair before). A guy at the parts store saw it and said the same thing. He suggested a screwdriver might 'pop' the round disk out and then maybe it would work as you suggest. But I can't get it out. Also, there was a black disk made of film/plastic that is still on the windshield. So it looks like something more than the special glue alone.
Thanks Gordanddar. Anyone have any Audi experience?
The small metal piece is just glued to the glass , and is probably still in the mirror assembly. You can buy the "special " glue at any auto parts store.
Glue the metal piece on , then after it has fully dried you can slide the mirror back on.
