Hi just bought an audi tt 225 model 2000

Hi just bought an audi tt 225 model 2000 year.Realised that the abs was`nt working and traction but no warning light is on.
Also reading the manual realised both these lights should come on for a couple of seconds after starting the engine, but not doing this either, any ideas?
