my transmission slips when putting a load on the engine, shouldn't it go into a safe mode, 2nd gear I think? Could this mean it is computer related?

No, safe mode is when the problem IS computer or electrically-related. Your transmission is slipping - it's a mechanical/fluid problem. You need to take it to a shop ASAP - the slippage generates a lot of heat and that will kill the transmission if you keep driving around like that.
