Is speedometer connected to Tranny?

By reysy28 on Nov 07, 2009

Is the speedometer has something to do with transmission shifting? My tranny wont shift to 2nd gear until the needle of my speedometer jumps to 60. From 0 to 50 the needle is not moving

There is a vehicle speed sensor on top of the rear differential, this sensor is also for the anti-lock brakes. Sometimes you just remove it and clean it (it's magnetic) and may start working again otherwise you have to buy new. Yes, this sensor will affect the trany shifting.
