Check the CPS (crankshaft position sensor). It is a common problem on the 03-07 cts. The car will start and run fine for a while but when you take your foot off the gas, like at a stop sign, it stalls and won't refire. Give it 20 minutes or so, long enough for the ecm to reset, and it will start again. Sound familiar? It's the CPS. Available at Auto Zone for 45 bucks. You'll need an E8 external torq socket. A 1/4 drive rachet with a 10-12 inch extension and a swivel adaptor will make replacement much easier. Also, if you pull the front wheel off and jack the car up a bit and open the hood to let light down into the engine compartment it will make it easier. This link will help...

You probebly need a crank sensor. take it to autozone and have them check the codes they will usually have a history crank sensor code. they usually act up after driving and letting set. the 03 cts uses the same engine as the later model catera. we have seen alot of crank sensor issues

I have a 2003 grand am 4cyl i have three codes PO137,PO141, PO442 and since i parked it on the 17th and then never went anywhere till the morning of the 19th my car wont start it rolls but wont catch...

The 137 code is low input, rear o2 sensor,141 is a preheat fault at the same o2 sensor, the 442 is an evap leak (like a loose gas cap )
None of these codes would cause a no start condition.I think a fuel pressure test should be first,at least see if you hear the pump run for about 3 seconds as the key is turned on,don't have to crank it just turn the key on and listen (or a helper) at the fuel filler neck.

Whats steps do i need to follow on replacing a fuel pump on a 2003 cadillac cts

The fuel pump is probably in the gas tank. You can check if the pump works by turning the key to on without starting the engine. Open the fuel door and remove the gas cap. Put your ear up against the gas filler tube and listen for the fuel pump running. If you don't hear anything it is most likely a bad fuel pump. Let someone listen to make sure. To replace, you may have to remove the gas tank or maybe there is an access panel in the trunk, I don't know about a cadillac.

The car cranks fine (good battery) but will not

Hey all. I've had my 2003 in twice for the Crankshaft position sensor. In Feb 08 it fixed everything. My car wouldn't start when it had been running for a while. I'd pull into a gas station, then go to start it again and it would just turn over. Same thing just happened in July 2010. They replaced the crankshaft position sensor again, but now it's still doing the same thing. If I let the car sit for 20-25 minutes, it will start and run just fine. However, this time around the check engine light is on and it has never come on. I'm open to any suggestions as to what to try next. What is the PCM exactly?

Hello- My 03 cts will crank but will not turn over. a few days ago it took several tries to turn over... now it wont turn over at all. i do see any check engine lights on. any ideas?

Might be a problem with your fuel delivery system. Could be as simple as a clogged fuel filter or something more expensive like your fuel pump.

Car will not start everything comes on

Does it crank? If it doesn't is the car in park or neutral? and if it is can you retry to put it in park or neutral again, no help? starter bad? Low battery may turn all the lights on but may not be high enough to crank. The security light on? If it is and you leave the key on a bit does it go out or stay on? If it stays on do you have a different key that works the car? try it first, If it cranks and still doesn't start does it have fuel? Nor just on the gauge but take the cap off and shake the car and listen for the gas slossing around. it can be out and the gauge wrong, maybe someone took your gas while you were sleeping?

Cadillac cts cranks but won't start

My 2003 CTS would not start on the first, second or third try after filling the gas tank. Finally after several months of this occuring every two weeks a check engine light came on. It was the evac purge valve. Tom

2005 chevy cobalt check engine light

make sure the gas cap is on tight. vapor recovery system depends on the closure of the gas cap. if that did not solve your problem, I would suggest to get a new gas cap first, before going to the dealer or any repair shop for a turn-up.
