My dear friend;
Try this;
  1. Check the shift levers {connections} underneath the car, which is connecting your shift manual to the gear; it may adrift {shifted} from its place or has loose bolts (Nuts), etc.
  2. Check gear oil level; it maybe low in oil (you didn't mention what kind of gear you have = whither manual or automatic)?.
  3. If it's manual gear; check it's clutch reservoir oil level { the X-mission} clutch normally using DOT 3 OR DOT 4 brake fluid, consult your car's service booklet comes at front cabin drawer { gloves compartment}.

reverse clutches are burned up, repair or replace tranny.
