1999 volkswagen passat replaced front brakes, ABS light comes on and brakes shudder the first time you apply the brakes going forward, then the light stays on but the brakes stop smoothly, how do I fix?
Hi there, thanks for questioning about the ABS light some people could have just ignored it yet it could have even a fatal error what kind of brake pads did you use to replace the old ones. Another thing is that you may be having a leakage in your brake fluid tubes. Or, it could be a false call by the computer. If the first 2 options above are ok, then you just need to go and have OBDII clear the false call. I hope you solve your problem
Hi:
The ABS light on means an ABS malfunction. You should be able to have a auto parts store scan your car and find out what code is tripped, for free, but my guess is that one of your front wheel speed sensors is out of whack, or dirty or something.
When the light is on, your normal brakes work fine, but you have no ABS, so your car will take longer to stop in emergency situations.
