had timing belt with the full maint on it in 2003 at 125,841 miles is it time to have another timing belt on i am told its time to have all the work done agaiin at 1300. plus dollars
I have a 1997 malibu that has 260,000 plus miles on it, and i have never replaced the timing chain. Now, i'm not telling you not to do it, but if your car is running fine, a regular tune up will sufice(plugs, air filter, and wires if equipped). DON'T get taken advantage of, if you suspect that it may be something major as the timing chain going bad, get many opinions and don't settle for the first one out there. It's your hard earned $1300. If the chain was replaced in 2003, you should't need it unless the car is running terribly and the regular tune up doesn't help. It's good to up keep your vehicles, but if it sounds too much or suspicious to you, get another opinion.
