This is a common Ford problem and easy to deal with.
New units are readily available on Ebay
Search for HEATER RESISTOR
What happens is they overheat and normally the connections burn/corrode away. A temporary solution can be made biy cleaning it all up using a file , wire and soldering iron....but a new unit is really the best option ( and NOT a used unit )
