Vw golf diesel very sluggish

first check your filters both fuel /and air.Run a fuel cleaner through the fuel system this may take a few days ,if this does not clear your problem then i would suspect a more serious problem.your turbo might need replaced.adrian;;;

I would start with changing the fuel filter, with the tow truck that work on every day, I service them every two weeks, and the fuel filters come back full of grim the deisel fuel filters have to get changed more often with the fuel going around, try and stay away from pride gas stations, they have caused 8,000 in repairs to my trucks.
