Need to know how wires go back on starter for 2001 ford explorer sport

the large stud:three eights copper: is the one that the battery cable goes on. the small post 'This ford has just the one' is where the signal wire goes. If you have other smaller gauge wires that have a large ring terminal they go on the lartge lug too. Hooking up your battery. positive cable on positive terminal first. tighten it up. place negative cable on negative terminal. if you get large amounts of sparks check your cabling for chafeing or dead shorts. you may get a small spark if you have a hood light on or assesory. good luck

My 96 ford explorer wont start

Check that the small wire going onto the starter solenoid has a good contact. Next time it doesn't start, test this wire for power while the key is on Start. If it has power when you test it then, I'd suspect dodgy starter solenoid.

My 96 ford explorer power window will not work

TRY CHECKING THE SWITCH. WITH A TEST LIGHT, THERE WILL BE A WIRE THAT IS HOT. WHEN YOU PRESS THE WINDOW BUTTON, SEE IF ONE OF THE OTHER WIRES GET POWER TO IT. IF YOU GET A WIRE THAT LIGHTS UP ON THE BACK OF THE SWITCH WHEN YOU PUSH THE BUTTON, THEN THAT MEANS THE SWITCH IS WORKING AND THE MOTOR NEEDS TO BE CHANGED. IF ONE OF THE OTHER WIRES DON'T GET POWER THEN THE SWITCH IS BAD. HOPE THIS HELPS. PLEASE KEEP ME POSTED. THANKS FOR AN HONEST RATING AND FOR USING FIX-YA.

How do you remove a starter from a 1996 Ford Explorer v6

unhook the battery

remove the two or three bolts holding the starter on. pay attention to lengths of the bolts so they are put back in the same holes

take the wires off the old starter one at a time and attach them to the new starter (so you are sure which connector they go on)

bolt on the new starter.

hook up the battery and you are done.
