2002 chevy trailblazer service engine soon light is on and flashes about 5 times when excelerating. started last night when i had it idiling for an extended time. there is also some shaking involved when it is idiling

This means the engine computer has detected a misfire in the engine.This will make your engine shake.When it flashes this means that you should not drive it because you can do damage to the catalytic converter.What you need to do is get the codes from the computer.Misfires are usually caused by the ignition system.(plugs,wires,coils,or module)In your case there is no plug wires it is a coil on plug system.This means the plugs are under the coils.The codes will tell you which cylinder is misfiring and then you can find out weather it is the coil or plug that is giving you the problem.
