We have the same problem on a 2005 2.7l sedan. It sounds like a fan after shutting off the engine. It is NOT the cooling fans, or the heater fan. Sounds like it is coming from under the engine and it runs the battery down in a few hours.

Removing the fuses from the inside fusebox does nothing, we haven't found the under hood fusebox yet.

If we undo the battery, and then connect it the next morning, the noise/fan is still there. Start the car and drive to the dealer, it won't do it of course, and they cannot find anything wrong.

Ideas?

2001 ford escort cooling fan will not turn off please help?

sounds like either the temperature sensor is keeping it on, the cooling fan relay is fused together, or that you have some wires touching keeping power to the fan.

Why does engine fan keep running after car is turned off

Hi there:

Sound like a problem on your cooling fan relay sticking. If the relay sticks the fan will stay on. If you replace the relay it should correct the problem.

Hope this helps; also keep in mind that your feedback is important and I`ll appreciate your time and consideration if you leave some testimonial comment about this answer.

Thank you for using FixYa, have a nice day.

My 2005 Impala has a problem. The fan blower motor can no longer be controlled by the fan control knob and the fan keeps running when I turn the car ignition off.

Sounds like the fan control module and/or relay..Need to pull fuse until you get it fix,,or the battery will run down

I REPLACED MY FAN CLUTCH AND ITS RUNNING VERY LOUD THE OLD ONE WAS QUIET BUT THE FAN WOULDNT TURN ALL THE TIME

The clutch fan is designed to turn when the engine is hot, when it is cool the clutch releases and the fan does not run at engine speed . This keeps down the noise and engine power drain when it is not needed. It sounds to me like you bought a used clutch fan that is not serviceable as it is always on.If your car was not overheating then the old fan may still be good.

My car is overheating and it smells like antifreeze in the car and the fans not coming on?

sounds like you have a coolant leak inside the engine compartment and its steaming off the engine heat. You need to check heat sensors also as those fans need to run to keep motor cool. Beware , those fans can turn on at any time so keep hands and fingers clear of them when checking or workng near them.

Hi can any one tell me why the radiator keeps running on after i have turned the car off! its so annoying i have to take out the fuse to get it to stop then about two hours later if i go to put the fuse in...

The car is programmed by the computer to have the fan run to bring down the temp.. You would be surprised to hear a lot of cars do this, even after the car is turned off. If the fan runs over 20 minutes after the car is off, call your dealership and talk to the service department. You are doing more harm than good pulling the fuse. If its a major problem the service people will tell you what you need to know. Most Toyota, Mazda, and Nissians also do this. Its a safety measure to lower the temp. in the radiator even after the car is not running. If still having problems, let me know

My ford excusion vent fan is running even when engine is off. No key in car and I can turn my vents all the way up and it will blow tons of air into car?? Ran battery out overnight.

If this has EATC automatic temp control. You will probably need a blower speed control module. This controls fan speed in all ranges and sounds like it has internally shorted causing this concern.
