Can you tell me the location of the starter for a "92 escort? I need to change one out in about an hour.

Open the hood of the car. Follow the positive battery cable to the first component you come to that has one or two small wire attached to it but also has another battery cable the same size bolted to the other side of the component. That is your starter relay.

I dont know what you need a bolt pattern for exactly, usually you just need to locate the starter. Disconnect all the wires from it, noting their locations, and unbolt the bolts and it should come right out.

You will need to get under the car to see the starter.
The Starter will have a LARGE battery cable running from it to the solenoid and will be round and about 8 inches in diameter. It will be along side of where the engine transmission meet.

hi from uk to locate starter on any car including yours follow the positive lead from the battery and at the other end it is connected to the starter solenoid the starter on your car should be at the rear side of engine as you lookunder bonnet it is next to bulkhead and is secured with thre 13 mm spanner sized bolts b4 you disconnect starter cables DISCONNECT THE BATTERY EARTH LEAD !! take off starter take it to advance or autozone they will check it free.could be starter relay or starter if battery is good. replace battery cable if they have not been changed.

did you check your starter bcuz your car has a seloniond on the starter you can try jumping the car and bypassing it but your best bet is to take your starter off and take to autozone or advance auto and see if its still any good and if it aint thats your problem

look for vacuum leaks , also look inside throttle body for carbon buildup , clean as needed
