Sounds like your speed sensor has gone out. it is located on the passenger side just under the spindle/hub assembly. it is about a $40.00 part. try a local junk yard those some times help out with parts that you can get really cheap that way you can also find out if it is the speed sensor itself. Also it is just under the half shaft. it is easy to get too with the car on jack stands and the right front wheel off the car. you might have to pull the brake assembly off.
Check your speed sensor in the driver side rear brake/rotor housing. Usually there is only one. Not certain if driver side or passenger side but I know it rear and this is one of the main causes for defective speedometer failure. You should have a check engine light one also.
First check to see if a stone is trapped be hind back plate making a loud noise .......If nothing there, then check that there constant noise or worse when braking may be one of two things ...Front wheel bearings ,or more likely disk pads worn down to the metal , to check u need to jack up ofending side and make sure u work safe ,chock up or use axle stands to support weight take of wheel u will have to loosen wheel nuts first or have some one hold brake on wilst u un do the wheel nuts , then u will se a thing called a cailper sitting over ur disk there shud be disk pads in there 15 mm thick when new minimum 4 mm, if worn away to metal u need to re place them as a set to both fronts,.........u might if u have been driving for a while need to renew ur disks also, if they are badly scored......will take u about 3 hrs in all doing both sides if u arnt used to this work get some one to do it 4 u as its very dangerous to do and if not done properly u may have an accident good luck
remove this items in this order(rear disc):
-remove rear wheel(the side you are replace)(19mm socket)
-remove brake caliper with cailper bracket(14mm socket) -remove brake disc -remove metal cover hub/bearing assembly with flathead screwdriver -remove 36mm nut behind metal cover. -pull hub/bearing assembly out. note:sometime the inner side of bearing stay on knuckle and you have to pry it out pry bar. check old bearing vs new bearing and you'll see the different. Don't reuse any parts of the old bearing. -install new hub/bearing
i have found that you need to first make sure the cv shaft is moving free in the bearing. soak everything with penitrating oil. you should be able to move shaft in & out a little. the hub is a very tight fit. you need to tap it some from side to side untill you see a little gap between hub and spindel. then place the head of a flat screw driver in that gap and all around the hub, prying back and forth where ever possible. soak, tap and pry all over. be hard on it if replacing, more gentle if not. good luck.
normally you can take off the spindel but if you remove brake disk and back plate you should be able to punch out the studs with no problem and than push new one in and press it in by tapping it with hammer on the back and than putting some washers over it and than tightening the lug nuts.
Or if you are comfortable with it remove the whole spindel section and put it on a work bench
