Power Steering Pump Replacement

Removal Procedure

1. Place a drain pan under the vehicle.
2. Remove the fuel injector site shield.
3. Remove the power steering pump pulley from the power steering pump.

View Full Image 4. Remove the power steering pump pressure hose (1) from the power steering pump.

5. Remove the power steering pump return hose from the power steering pump.
6. Remove the power steering pump mounting bolts.

7. Remove the power steering pump.

Installation Procedure

1. Install the power steering pump reservoir to the power steering pump.

View Full Image 2. Install the power steering pump to the vehicle. Notice: Refer to Fastener Notice in Service Precautions.

3. Install the power steering pump mounting bolts. Tighten the power steering pump mounting bolts to 25 Nm (18 ft. lbs.).
View Full Image 4. Install the power steering pump return hose to the power steering pump.
View Full Image 5. Install the power steering pump pressure hose (1) to the power steering pump. Tighten the power steering pump pressure hose to 30 Nm (22 ft. lbs.).

6. Install the power steering pump pulley to the power steering pump.

7. Install the fuel injector site shield.

8. Bleed the power steering system. You can do this by removing the power steering fluid cap and lifting the front of the vehicle with jack stands. Turn the engine on and turn the steering wheel slowly lock to lock. This will take 5-10 minutes as you will see the power steering fluid foam up. This is bleeding the air out of the system.

9. Inspect the power steering system for leaks.
