You should be able to drop the pan by removing the bolts. On some vehicles it is necessary to jack the engine up after removing the bolts from the engine mounts. If this is necessary then once you have your engine up high enough (usually 3 to 4 inches) put small blocks of wood where the mount would go to support the engine while you remove the oil pan. Also you can work the oil pan gasket around the oil pickup tube with the pan down with out having to totally remove the pan from underneathe the truck. If you do this just make sure the gasket is not twisted before reinstalling the pan onto the engine.
I am not sure of which engine you have in your van, but on the only one I helped with, it had the 4.9L 300ci 6 cyl, and it required that the intake manifold be removed, and the motor mounts unbolted, so the motor could be jacked up to get the oil pan off.
