The engine got wet wont start, why? Where to start looking?

First check the air filter to make sure you didn't suck water into the filter.

2000ford f-150 xlt v6, hasbeen running rough, went to blow some driveways this morning, it started twice then after the second one it wouldnt start. it didnt hit a lick.

Use a bottle of yellow HEET dry gas / fuel dryer to remove moisture in your fuel tank.

Check the coil + wires for water / moisture drip / wetness.

Won t start

run the fault codes and look for faulty cam/ crank position sensor as this is indicated by the backfire/hard start and lower idle RPM. Check that battery terminals are clean and tight..

1994 Nissan Altima auto, starts up, drives, then stalls out within 5-10 minutes and wont restart for another 2 hours or so

either your igniter is dying or your fuel pump is dying

Drove my '99 Stratus through high water & wont start 2 weeks later

If water went over the hood and into your air cleaner there's probably water in your engine. change your oil. Pull your spark plugs, leave them out for a few days to let any water in there dry out. pull your air cleaner, if it's wet, throw it away and get another one. After a few days pour some Marvel Mystery Oil into your spark plug tubes or spray PB Blaster (encase your pistons are rusted to the block)

This may not get it working, if there was water in the engine when your were trying to start it you may have bent the valves, water doesn't compress.

However I would do these things before condemning your engine.

3 days ago, i went to work no problem,had to move it after 6-7 hrs of time, would not turn on 2 try's, started like normal on 3rd. 2 days ago i drove it locally a couple of times, no problems. today...

I ran into the problem and it was corrosion on the battery terminals. on the inside against the battery. also check the the terminals for good connection.

My 1989 ford festiva stalled while driving it had it towed back home checked spark and fuel its all good a couple of days later put new plugs wires cap and button in it it started went around the block and...

could be the fuel pump.

Check Engine light

It sound like you are having a electrical problem.You need to check your electrical/ignition system,not all electrical problem the diagnostic machine can read.

Could be a number of things......engines need spark fuell and air to run.....one of three in your case is not working correctly
try disconnecting fuel line from engine side of feul sending unit and turn over ....get a bucket it could get messy....if you see fuel then check spark...to check spark leave fuel disconnected....and pull out one plugs leave wire on plug and touch plug threads to ground (anyground..eg..alternator bracket)use vice grips but not too tight ..then turn it over again and see if plug sparks......if spark and fuel are present ....then ur into crank sensors or cam sensors these determine when spark is present.....
