what mode, heat or cold?
does fan blow?> no "? then replace the fan fuse.
fan blows on high? yes.
then if A/C ? wanted? why not say? then the green light glows
near A/C switch, does it? y/n
yes the does A/C compressor clutch close? and compressor shaft turn? y/n.?
or its heat you want? not stated.
so no heat, is a whole other list. ill try.
1: engine not hot, not 180f min. and holding (y/n)
2: cab fan dead.
3: heater core not hot, (feel the hose there both must be hot)
4: damper stuck closed blocking heater core.
Normally the ac fan (in front of the condenser) will run as soon as the ac is switched on. This condenser gets hot when the gas is being compressed and needs to have the heat removed for the system to work IT will switch on regardless of the ambient temperature as it is connected directly to the ac compressor clutch. IF you are referring to the heater fan inside then it will only work with the heater fan on or with both ac and heater on but will not always work with just the ac on.
the cab heater fan?, there can be 4 fans on some cars. front condenser, 2 on rad, and 1 in cab heater box. the cab fan? does it fail on high too? it has a switch, (marked fan speed) the switch is bad ,if low speed are dead. and high are good. or wiring to it , the motor or the fuse. even a cracked fuse, change the fan fuse to a new fuse.
sounds like compressor isn't working properly or heater vacuum is opening vent to heater core.try turning on ac and if it cuts on and off repeatedly every few seconds the freon level is not correct or high pressure switch may not be working make sure radiator fan comes on when ac is on.if all this is working properly check vacuum hoses to heater may be opening vent doors to heater.hope this helps
It is (in order of likeliness) either a fuse, the resistor (located in the airbox near the fan for cooling purposes, that resistor gets HOT!), the fan motor itself, the control switch, or, less than likely, wiring issues.
It can be quite a job to get in the airbox for the resistor and the motor as you probably have to take half the dash and trim out in order to get to the airbox...
If it is working at all then the relay and fuse is good and the problem is either the little vacuum hose on the back of the control switch panel or the panel itself.
working on 4 and 5 speed that the resistor that broken cold air you got to move the selector to see the motor that move the trap hot and cold sometime when the motor was not move to the hot side for a long time its jam the motor on the passager side under dash put to hot and gently tap the motor tanks pierre
