depending on the cooling fan system they operate different. do you know if it is the electric style or hydraulic style?
electric has low and high speed starting at 215+ degrees and the hydralic one starts around the same but with temp increase is a regulator valve the increases the hydralic pressure to spin fan faster/
let me know if you have more question.

- yes it should have. this system is controlled by the computer via relays. the computer get a signal from the temp sensor and calculates temp and when it reaches the set temp it will turn low speed fan on then if the temps keeps going then it will turn the high speed fan on. if you are looking at the gauge on the dash it should be under 21o at all times if it rises then the cooling fans are not working. you can find the fuses and relays for them in the underhood junction box.
computer controlled , should come on around 225 degrees. You will need a scanner to see what the PCM is seeing.

- a scanner can activate the fan thru the computer. This will confirm the computer is ok. You will need to see what the computer is seeing. If you have a bad temp sensor this misinformation could cause your condition. Can you jump the fan manually to verify it works. Can you turn the AC on and the fan come on. If you can turn the fan on somehow this will verify that a bad fan is not the issue.

I have 98 jeep grand cherokee 5.2 v8 the trans. slips going into 2nd gear from a dead stop or just pulling out but not when down shifting to pass a car or under a load. was told it was losing pump pressure nut it shoud do it more than just in 2nd gear. I believe it's in the valve body not sure where.
