If it smokes more on deceleration, it could be oil sucking down through worn valve guides. If the engine has overheated, you will get smoke from oil getting past the rings.

Either way the cheapest solution is to try a smoke stop additive. The concept is that they actually build up varnish in the places where oil might be leaking around stuff and reduce the oil loss.

My 2016 maxima smokes at start up and whenever I come to a stop. And also there's oil film in the exhaust. What's going on?

If your 2016 Maxima is smoking at start-up and whenever you come to a stop, and there is an oil film in the exhaust, it's possible that there is an issue with the engine's piston rings or valve seals.

The piston rings and valve seals help to keep the engine oil from entering the combustion chamber. If they are worn or damaged, oil can leak into the combustion chamber and burn with the fuel, causing smoke and the oil film in the exhaust.

Another possibility could be a clogged or damaged PCV (Positive Crankcase Ventilation) valve. The PCV valve is responsible for controlling the amount of blow-by gases that are recirculated back into the engine. If it's not functioning properly, excess oil can enter the combustion chamber, causing the same symptoms.

It's important to have your car inspected by a qualified mechanic as soon as possible to diagnose and repair the issue. Ignoring the problem can cause further damage to the engine and potentially lead to costly repairs.

Just replaced valve covers on Nissan Maxima 2002 due to misfire. Now it smokes and burns oil every start? What's should I do .

If is is only smoking when you first start it up. Most likely the valve guide seals, oil is leaking into the cylinders and smoking when you start it up.

MY 2005 MAXIMA HAS GREAT POWER BUT USES OIL BAD AND BLUE SMOKES BAD

Blue smoke is burning oil. Caused from bad rings, bad valve seals and valve guides are worn out. Since you have power, I would suspect the valves. Head job is the only way to fix this. Just a note, this is not common on 10 year old Nissan. To do a quick check for the piston rings. Start the car. Take the oil fill cap off. If you feel oil shoot out a foot above the opening, the rings are shot. Also when rings go bad, you have oil blow out about every gasket and seal. If this is the case, replace the engine or rebuild it.

Smoke is coming out of the car but its not overheating so what's the problem?

what does this smoke smell like? oil? coolant?, if it smells like coolant then u have a leaking head gasket, not all head gasket leaks cause overheating, so the fact the engine is not overheating doesn't mean you don't have a head gasket leak.

My 1995 olds royal 88 has blue smoke coming from engine area

Blue smoke is oil and if it's coming from your engine compartment most likely means the gasket on your valve cover either needs to be replaced or it could even be as simple and needing to tighten the valve cover bolts a bit. Oil is leaking from the valve covers and working it's way to your hot exhaust manifold and that is where the smoking is most likely coming from.

I have an oil leak in a spark plug chamber how do is fix it

depends where the oil came from.of it has leaked down from a valve cover gasket, that is not hard to fix.if it a leaking valve seal that is expensive and if the head gasket is leaking, expensive.look at the outside edge of the valve cover, and check the edge for oil.if there is alot of oil,by the time the plug is unscrewed oil can go inside.the oil would burn off,so if there is oil inside it is dripping down probably from a valve seal.take off the valve cover and inspect the seals they are probably no good.there are 2 seal sets, one is in the valve cover, and that results in oil on the outside of the plug, and the actual valve seal which results in oil in the inside of the engine.
