- front driver side.. driver side headlight is completely cracked, around that area..i would say about the middle of the hood over to the left.to the driver door

Nov 01, 2009

- Yes i hear the humming at the back of the vehicle

Nov 01, 2009

- I now have a computer code... It is.. 124255 any clues?? Its a check engine code.

Nov 01, 2009

- I used the on off method... it was flash 1 flash 2 flash 4 flash 2 flash 5 flash 5

Nov 01, 2009

- the battery died bout 2 hours after the accident due to leaving all power on after words but it its charged now.

Nov 01, 2009

- my battery has been disconnected for about 5 days now so i don't know how my computer is still showing a code to be honest with you. so whouldnt that make every thing in the van reset?

Nov 01, 2009

- that might be why it was hooked as a dead battery and then put on a charger while it was hooked up so nothing really changed

Nov 01, 2009

- ok i wwas talkin to one of the other experts and he said try unplugging my battery for 20 minutes or so and see if that would help gettin my 96 plymouth Grand Voyager to run after i hit a deer a week ago and it has not changed a thing. i have fuel going in to my enggine and i have spark i dont understand why it will not ignite.

Nov 01, 2009

- well all i can say is at least the other guy tried to help and didn't just say take it in to be looked at. so thank you for your time tho it did no good what so ever

where was the damage to your vehicle ?

- we will need you to turn on the key and go to the rear of the van or at least to the area of the gas tank filler. listen for a humming sound.

Nov 01, 2009

- i'm uncertain what that code would be unless it is 12 42 55. did you use the on off method with the key or do you have a code reader. ?

Fault In ASD Relay Driver Circuit

55
End Of Message

The power supplied to the fuel pump, ignition coil, fuel injectors and parts of the power module is controlled by the logic module through the Automatic Shutdown Relay (ASD); the idea is to shut off fuel pressure and the ignition system when the key is turned off to prevent fires, dieseling, and other problems. The relay is located in different places on different years.
In the 1985 – 1987 model years, the power module houses the ASD. For the 1984 models, vehicles which use a SMEC or SBEC have an external relay. From about 1990 on, the ASD relay was in a plastic underhood relay box at the left fender well.
The ASD relay is closed (allowing power to flow through it) when the ignition is first turned on. If the signal from the ignition reference is lost while the engine is running, or if the turbo boost pressure reaches and exceeds the over boost cut-off point, the logic module cuts power to the ASD, which in turn removes power from the fuel pump, ignition coil, injectors and those parts of the power module. This causes the engine to shut down.
The logic module monitors the relay driver. If it senses that the relay driver is not responding correctly it will trigger a code. If the logic module does not sense an absence of current when the circuit is open, or 12 volts DC when the circuit is closed, it knows that the circuit is open or shorted, and triggers code 42. In later models which used the SMEC or SBEC, the logic module monitors the output of the fuel pump relay output as well as the fuel injectors If it does not see 12 volts DC when the relay is activated, it triggers code 42.
Failure of the automatic shutdown relay is often shown as inexplicable stalling or refusal to start.

the code 42 may have been triggered by the battery being low. is the battery discharged ?

- in the fuse box near the battery are relays that are the possible cause. the three inner most relays are likely the area that you are having problems with. find a non critical relay (headlights, wipers etc) and swap that to one of those relays. you may also want to try just reseating the relays . taking them out one at a time and reinserting them.
resetting the computer may resolve the problem as well. unhook the battery for about 20 minutes. if you have an anti-theft radio make sure you know the code and how to enter it before you unhook the battery.

- it should have unless the battery was dead then hooked up and charged.

- i have to sign off of here as i have to go do something important (not that i think this isn't important). if unhooking the battery does not resolve the issue your question will certainly be answered by another expert. take care

It could be anything. you will need to take it in so someone can rule out a sensor was damaged or not. Or look for something unplugged on the flywheel area
