Under the intake manifold. Make sure you get the harness for the knock sensors. and clean out all of the rust and junk you're going to find donw in the holes before and after you replace the sensors.
Hi Thanks for using FixYa. The two knock sensors V-6 are located in the rear
of the engine block below distributor and oil releasing unit and on the V-8 these
are located under intake manifold. You’ll need to remove the manifold (intake)
to get to sensors.

I have a 2001 Chevy Silverado 1500. The V-8 has 2 knock sensors located in the center of the engine block, under the intake manifold! Hard to get to. The V-6 has only one and is located on the rear of the engine block below the distributor and oil pressure sending unit. Good luck with this, Shastalaker7
There are two knock sensors on a 2001 chevy silverado. You have to remove the intake manifold, because both of them are located under it. it is best to replace both knock sensors at one time, and you will need an intake manifold gasket too.
