My 1999 Pontiac Bonneville will not start. When you try to start it nothing happens. Lights on dash come on, battery is at 12.36 V, all fuses are good, you can hear a relay kick in but the starter does nothing. I checked voltage at the starter and it was 12+ V. One thing I need assistance on is the Security light flashes when you turn the key on. Any help would be greatly appreciated.
The security system has been activated call the dealer to getthe deatils on how to reset it, normally you pull the security fuse for 30 seconds to restet it. if that does not work call the dealer and they can help you.
I had the same problem with my Buick LeSabre. A wire had come loose in the steering column and was causing the chip in the key to not be read. This causes the security light to come on. I had to put a new ignition switch in as the wire beak was non repairable. I also had to get new keys as the dealer did not have an ignition switch to match the keys I currently had.
