Faceplate of stereo system lights up, appears to

Faceplate of stereo system lights up, appears to work, but no sound from speakers?

I can hear the cd's reading, and the radio locks into stereo for stations, but no sound at all comes from the speakers. Not even the slightest little buzz.

I doubt there are any in/outputs or speakers blown (If a speaker were it should be crackling at least) the system has never been pushed or even turned up past I'd say, 30 percent...

This is leading me to think it's a loose connection in the stereo somewhere, but I don't know how to get behind it, or if it isn't something else..

Any ideas?
