In a 2000 GMC Jimmy SLS Right rear wheel wobbles as well as there is a rumbling sound. Wheel can be lifted up and down but not shifted manually from side to side. No shimming felt in sterring wheel.What cuold be the problem?

From what you describe it likely is a very bad axle bearing. I would recommend not driving until repaired.

Bad wheel bearings or race or both. It could also be a bent rim.
