2004 Sienna repeatedly locks and unlocks itself complete with flashing parking lights and chime sound. Same as if someone were using the keyless remote, but it does this on its own. Had to disconnect the battery to get it to stop.

- Vehicle has a factory anti-theft (immobiliser) system, so the problem's not cause by an aftermarket alarm. A few weeks ago we did have to get new keys made and had the ECM reflashed to match the new transponders (done at Toyota dealer). Is it possible something happened when they reflashed it? Has been fine since then until this problem started a few days ago. We currently don't have (so aren't using) any remotes, so lock/unlock is all done with key or auto button on driver's door. The problem occurs whether the car is left locked or unlocked - doesn't matter whether I used the key or the door button last. It does not happen when the car is running.

- Thanks. The problem indeed appears to be with the contact tab on the right hand sliding door. No obvious obstruction or defect, but a couple of years ago my teenage son "reshaped" the door post slightly in an encounter with a fence, and since then it has shifted and settled just enough to make contact intermittent. I've got it jerry-rigged for now, but if it goes haywire again I guess I'll have to take it to the body shop.

Have you checked the hood switch? How about all the door jabs,to see if any of them are bad,or came unplugged ,and are they grounding on the body inside the door jam?Check the rear hatch also, all the door jabs. These are the little buttons that push in to cut the circuit off. Also, have you tried to turn them off with the key,in the door?Look inside the door on the drivers side, and look for a problem with the switch on the door actuator(lock). There will be a contact switch on the door lock actuator, that trips the alarm on,and off.I ask these questions to make you think, and act on the suggestions, not that I need an answer, but for your benefit.I hope this all helps, and if so,please let us know, thank you.

It sounds like you had an aftermarket alarm installed that needs to be repaired or replaced. If you have had an alarm installed locate the main power wire for the alarm and remove the in-line fuse. This should solve the problem. If you have an alarm that was installed by the manufacturer it is most likely incorporated into the ECM which is going to be a problem. You will need to take the vehicle to the dealer and have the ECM checked for fault as this would not activate your Check Engine light. An ODB II code reader may show you a fault code even without the Check Engine light being on. I hope this helps.

- The problem is in the ECM. Sorry to say but you will have to have the ECM checked and/or flashed by the dealer again.
