Problem for Chevrolet 1997 Tahoe

In the under hood fuse area there are 2 slots

In the under hood fuse area there are 2 slots marked Diode. Both items installed look bad. What do they do? The only problem with the truck is the indicator lights for full engagement of the 4X4 flash. The transfer case goes into low, but the indicator lights continue to flash, indicating that the shift isn't complete.

- I've followed the manual for speeds for the shift to 4XHi (any speed) and for 4XLO (1-2 mph) coasting in N. Neither attempt resulted in a solid indicator light.

Diodes are part of the electrical system that allow for electricty to flow in only one direction. They are used to help protect the computer systems in your vehicle. How fast are you going when you shift into 4-wheel drive?
