No you do not.
Here is the steps for the brake job and it does not state that other than compressing the piston, you do NOT have to rotate it like on some foreign vehicles:

Rear brake pads—Liberty
To install:

By your question I assume that you have disk brakes on the rear? No matter the answer is NO the caliper piston does not need to rotate as it is compressed. It would help to know how many miles you have on your vehicle and if it is a 4x4 do you take it off road much? If so is it common for it to be in the mud a LOT. mike [email protected]

SOURCE: how do i compress the caliper piston on rear
you should have to turn in the caliper piston there is a special tool for this looks like a cube and has different notches on it for different cars, you can get it at like autozone for cheap $5 or less,,but you attach it to the extension and then a ratchet and turn the caliper in,,,,you ccan try to use a needle nose pliers to turn it in but thats not always easy,,turn it clockwise til it stops,,it will almost be flush with the housing

In the back the caliper pistons actually have to be turned... you can either do it with something that can fit in the two v-shaped notches, or you can buy a tool from Autozone, etc. that will fit on a 3/8" drive ratchet to turn the piston back in.
I did this myself for the first time about 4 weeks ago. Confused me until I asked an Autozone employee.

The piston must be rotated as it is pushed into the caliper. There is a special tool for this that is sold at just about all parts houses. The tool looks like a small square with various pins for various applications that goes on the end of your 3/8 drive ratchet.

you need a special tool avalable at most parts stores. its a disc brake piston turning tool. you have to rotate piston clockwise while pushing in on piston. you can fabricate something that enguages the slots and push and turn till all the way in.make sure to note position of slots and put them in same place as was before or the pin on the pads wont enguage the slot
