I have a 99 Blazer with a starting problem. Fuel pressure is 48-52 psi with key on, after I get it started with starting spray it works at 58-62 psi. New battery, fuel pressure reg., alt, tune-up. Could it be the fuel pump? Also after I changed the fuel filter it started on the first crank but wouldn't start again on it's own after I turned it off.
gm did a great thing of not letting the vehicle start until at least 55psi is reached. your pump is basically out. but if needed for emergancy before put in try to cycle key with out turning the stater over 3 or 4 times. it should build just enough pressure to get it running without starting fluid.
i first would have the engine ecm scanned for codes.also if no codes i would check voltage at the pump when starting and perform a fuel pressure drop test to see if any injecters are leaking.does the exhaust look black after the engine starts?changing the fuel filter and the engine started with out starting spray suggest engine is running rich.hopes this helps
