1998 toyota 4runner. the transfer case shifts into

1998 toyota 4runner. the transfer case shifts into 4wd lo fine and gos into 4wd when button depressed.It shifts into 4wd hi but wont engage 4wd and indicator lite does not come on.

- is ther a seperate motor for 4lo and 4hi?Are they mounted on the rear of transfercase

Sounds like the motor on your transffer case is either gone bad, or needs adjusted.
