It is not just replacing the timing belt but getting it back on right,
the new one I mean. You need to go out and buy yourself a repair manual
for your car. Most parts stores have them for around $20.00. As you
could run into something I would not think of but that manual would. I
like the Haynes manuals because they do not run so many different years
and engines together. Also Haynes manuals has pictures, because in a
1996 the hard thing you will have is to find those marks and you will
have to make sure you put that new belt on just right to those marks.
If you took the cover off to see the old belt then you just have to
remove everything that is in the way to get at that belt. All the
belts, water pump and then the work your way to that belt. But mark the
old belt before you remove it, so if you do get lost with the new belt
well you can check it with the old one and those sets of marks you
left. I can not begin to write down everything you need as to
replacing that belt here, so get that manual. Hope this helps some and
good luck!
