After tune-up and drive couple days, the engine light is on. Changed Spark Plug, Spark Wires, Ignition Cap, Rotor and PCV Valve. Everything installed correctly, double check. Diagnose that Cylinder 1 misfire and Catalytic efficiency thread hose are 2 problem. Please help!!! Thank in advance Chevy Silverado 1500, V6, 4.3L

Probably needs a tune up. plug wires, spark plugs, distributor cap and rotor. Also change the air filter and fuel filter and crank case filter as well as PCV valve (positive crankcase ventilation valve) this valve scavenges harmful acid deposits or blow by and reburns it and sends it out the exhaust pipe. Examine everything before you buy new if the plugs look good just reset the gap if the wires look good move on to the cap and rotor. you can find images on the internet to look at to compare condition of most parts at least just by look. if that does not do the trick you may have to take it to a mechanic. be sure you tell them all you have done. start with plugs cap and rotor then fuel filter. Check the air filter if you cannot see light through the paper element replace it for sure. the sputter can indicate not enough fuel or insufficient spark to ignite the fuel.
spark plugs can do wonders if they have not been changed for a long time. the fuel/combustion deposits rob the spark from jumping the gap which ignites the fuel under higher cylinder pressures. when the spark travels directly to ground without jumping the gap the cylinder makes no power.
You will need a 3/8" drive ratchet with a 5/8" spark plug socket. There is no distributor on these engines so you won't require a dist. cap. You will want to change spark plugs, ignition wires, air filter, fuel filter and pcv valve. There are no other adjustments.
You've already eliminated the spark plug & wireset, distributor cap & rotor. Sounds like your car needs a tune-up, specifically, the PCV (positive crankcase ventilation) valve, and/of the EGR (Exhaust Gas Recirculation) valve.
Components checked/replaced during a tune-up are: air filter motor oil motor oil filter breather filter fuel filter(s) fuel strainer PCV valve EGR valve spark plugs spark plug wires ECM or distributor cap & rotor cabin air filter transmission oil filter transmission oil engine coolant check all vacuum hoses and lines
Troubleshooting the no-start condition - from the 1990 Mitsu Mighty Max Repair Manual:
Priority Action Part Type -- Cause 1 Inspect Battery -- Battery Discharged or Faulty. 2 Inspect Battery Cable -- Corroded, Broken, Shorted or Poorly Connected Battery Cable. 3 Inspect Distributor Cap -- Distributor Cap Cracked or Burned. 3 Inspect Fuel Filter -- Clogged or Dirty Fuel Filter. 5 Inspect Ignition Coil -- Faulty Ignition Coil. 6 Inspect Wireset -- Worn, Damaged or Faulty Spark Plug Wire(s). 7 Inspect Spark Plug -- Incorrectly Gapped or Fouled Spark Plug(s). 8 Inspect Starter -- Starter Motor Faulty. 9 Inspect Fuel Pump -- Low Fuel Pressure. 10 Inspect Solenoid Switch -- Faulty Starter Solenoid Switch. 11 Inspect Fuel Pump Relay -- Faulty Fuel Pump Relay. 12 Inspect Fuel Injector Pressure Regulator -- Faulty Fuel Injector Pressure Regulator. 13 Inspect Ignition Switch -- Improperly Connected or Faulty Ignition Switch. 14 Inspect Starter Drive -- Faulty Starter Drive. 15 Inspect Fuel Injector -- Dirty or Worn Fuel Injectors. 16 Inspect Fuel Pump Strainer -- Clogged or Dirty Fuel Pump Strainerat. 17 Inspect Engine Control Computer -- Incorrect Operating Information Being Delivered and Sent From The EEC. 18 Inspect Fuel Tank -- Fuel Tank Empty. 19 Inspect Carburetor -- Carburetor Flooded or Faulty Choke. 20 Inspect Distributor -- Worn, Loose, or Incorrectly Installed Distributor.
Computers --- ECM/PCM have been
tuning engines since 1980.
You got air filter, cabin filter, gas filter,
dist cap & rotor, on some vehicles, some
have ignition wires that last 15 years &
everyone changes them for no reason,
just as they change a PCV Valve that never
need to be changed
Thanks for choosing FixYa and welcome. For a tune up, you would need to change spark plugs, coils, distributor cap, coil pack, and wires. You would change the air filter and the fuel filter also. Change your pcv valve as well. You can also change all your fluids and filters, such as oil, coolant fluid, and transmission fluid.
When you want to get a tune up on your truck make sure you replace the following items. :
*spark plugs, (check your spark plug wires replacing them if needed)
*Air Filter
*Fuel filter
*PCV Valve
*Oil filter and engine oil
*Distributor cap and rotor.
Lotta things - first things to check are tune-up items: spark plugs, spark plug wires, air filter, rebreather filter, oil filter, fuel filter, in-tank fuel strainer, ignition control module/distributor cap/rotor, PCV valve
Most probable cause: lack of spark from the ignition system 2nd most probable cause: engine starved for fuel due to fuel system problem: fuel filter, fuel pump, in-tank fuel pump or clogged in-tank fuel strainer.
Your car has a coil on plug ignition system. So, you would replace the spark plugs, air filter, cabin air filter and PCV Valve. There are no spark plug wires, distributor cap or rotor and the fuel filter is in the tank, not requiring replacement for the life of the vehicle.
New sparkplugs, filters, perhaps plug wires... the rest requires diagnostic equipment. I change plugs and filters and if everything is running okay and my mileage is normal, I don't worry about it. If anyone else knows more, I'd like to hear it.
