jeep keeps stalling along with engine knocks, hesitation at times. was told the computer is bad because codes can't be read. 165,367 miles on it, nobody knows why it stalls because of no codes. other than that, what else would be the problem, too much money for me so far new pulley, battery, tune up,fuel sensor, a/c charge...i know maintaince is normal but i need a surpentine belt, tires, & now computer..i've only had this for 7 monthes & this has hit me all at once

- thank you soooo much everyone who gave a response. The problem was the distributor pick up plate underneath the distributor cap. I no longer stall & am a little at peace when I drive. I hope nothing else occurs.

Hi, My 1997 Jeep Grand Cherokee is doing this exact same thing and no one knew why! I had someone to reset my computer, replace my ignition coil, distributor, as well as a new oil gauge "thingy" (translation:My gauge was showing that I was receiving zero oil pressure, but the component in my engine was broken that allows it to show. So when that was replaced it still showed that I had zero oil pressure). So, someone suggested that I may need a new engine. But, another guy said that I may need an oil pump which made sense.
My truck would slow down while I was driving, cut off, but start right back up. I also have a knock. The fact that it would start back was the confusing part for these mechanics. My check engine light came on as well. They said I still may need a motor, but it's not the reason as to why my truck is cutting off. I'm having the oil pump put in next week. I hope this solves my problem. PLEASE let me know what works for you!!!!!
