transmission does not come out of firstgear until i let off the excellarator at 23-25 miles an hour.whats causing this?

See if there is an adjustment on the throttle,or on the transmission,that is loose,or needs adjusting.Also,check for vacuum problems,and look for any fuses that may have blown.If you have instaled a radio,or any ***.and wired it to the wrong power sourse,this would cause the problem also.
