That same thing happened to my 2002 Saab convertable and I believe it ended up being a failed throttle body sensor. It was quite the pricy part, I think after everything was said and done it was around $1,000. Good luck!

Sorry I just seen this, if it were the Throttle Position Sensor it would have been an easy fix the part costs $36.11 on line and will take 10 minutes to replace.

2003 Ford Explorer XLT Wants To Stall At Low Idle,, especially when at a stop light

How does it idle in park , does it run ruff or smooth? Are any lights lit on the dash , check engine etc. ? Could have a partially plugged IAC air passage .idle air control (IAC) valve ! The engine computer uses the IAC to control idle , when under a load such as when put into gear the computer raises the idle ! It does this by allowing more air to by pass the closed throttle into the engine raising the idle ! If these air passages clog they restrict the air flow an cause a idle problem ! Now if it runs ruff at idle in park you could have vacuum leak ! Rough Idle How to Fix Ford Taurus Engine Stalls at Stop Signs

Stalling at low idle

I don't know this specific car. But, if it has one, check your Idle Air Valve. This can cause the engine to stall. If you can hold the gas pedal and the engine will continue to run until you let off the gas, it is likely the IAV. It will not necessarily cause the engine to run rough. That could be a number of things like spark plugs, wires or dirty injectors. It could also be a compression problem. Is the check engine light on?

What is the vsc off and trac off light mean?

it means the vehicle stability control and traction control are not working, mainly effective in wet or snow conditions, they control wheel spin for better traction an reduced the possibility of drifting in corners, all controlled in a ecu in tandem with antilock brakes , could cause you to spin out on gravel or low traction areas

1999 saab wont stay running while idling

I had a similar problem with my Saab, stalled at red lights when idling,

As suggested by Greg I suspected the IAC and was just about going to the repair shop and have the ECU codes pulled.

Anyway, I decided it could be a good idea to check the engine air filter first. It turned out to be rather dirty so I changed it, This solved the problem in my case, the car has worked perfectly ever since.

Sometimes it can be very simple!

Car cutting out when idleing

Here is the most common cause of surges and stalls at stops and low erratic idle speed and rough idle, it is in most cases the idle speed control air-bypass valve and or throttle valve and upper intake, these area's get full of gunk and combustion residue over the miles and cause idle issues (stalls, low idle) like yours, Get a can of intake cleaner from any local parts store, not carb spray, intake cleaner, it is made by a company called CRC, remove the air intake hose to the engine, hold the idle high so the engine won't stall, then spray the can of cleaner into the intake while keeping the engine running, use at least 1/2 the can, shut down the engine and disconnect the battery for 5 minutes, then restart and complete a number of mixed driving cycles, town, freeway, stop and go etc., after a few days the problem will go away as the system will relearn to the clean intake.
