2001 accent gsi.... diodes burning out for headlamps and dash lights.... why when no fuses burn out.... just found two burnt out ... one in the in cab fuse panel and one in the engine compartment fuse panel. Checked all related fuses and some extras... none are burnt out .....

10 amp fuse #26 powers illumination. See diagrams below.

The headlamps are powered by a 20Amp self-resetting circuit breaker in the fuse panel. If this breaker is not clicking on and off, you most likely have a bad Turn/Hazzard/Headlamp Switch. The switch that you must buy depends on if your car is equipped with Cruise Control and/or Daytime Running Lights. Also check the connector that plugs into the switch because they sometimes burn. If you plug a burnt connector into a new switch it may work for few days, but it will burn the new switch.

Make sure the dimmer switch for the interior lights is not accidentally turned down. I have seen this several times.

Unclear description of your problem... First, you say 'dimmer up at the half-way point and lights stop getting brighter'?.. Then you seem to be concerned about burned out bulbs. First of all, you describe two different problems... ya think? If you have burned out bulbs, then you can find them and replace them. If you have a lighting problem regarding 'brightness', you need to be more clear as to the problem. If the problem is bulbs, and these burned out bulbs are causing the 'dim' illumination of the dash lights, I'd say you solved the problem. If this is NOT what you meant, then it must be a problem in the rheostat which is not bringing the lights that do work up to the maximum intensity -- would you agree?

there are a couple of diodes under the hood that need changing at about 12 dollars each.should solve your problem
