While trying to roll down the passenger side electric window, a loud popping sound was heard and the window dropped. The electric motor was still functioning but I think the supports for the window fell apart. I physically pushed the window back up to the closed position and used duck tape to keep the window from falling back down. Is this a repair I could do myself, or am I dealership bound?
Remove the door inner panel and look for a broken part in the window lift mechanism. Replacement is usually fairly easy. Be prepared to replace some of the panel plastic retainer pins which can break as you pry loose the panel edges. Use a two-pronged fork-like tool to remove the panel. You can find the tool and pins at your friendly auto supply house. The lift part may have to come from a Chevy dealer.
Depends on your skills of course. Take your time and do it safely but you likely can do it.. You will need a complete window regulator assembly. There is an electric motor that drives a cable around pulleys. The cables snap or burr and jam up. Aftermarket suppliers now can get these as they are a common problem. Dorman manufacturing has them and they seem to be good quality. In Canada around $150 bucks.

2001 silverado- I am trying to install factory fog lights in my truck and i installed the button, bought the relay, and installed the lights. I got the wires for the fog lights from the junkyard but am not sure where to put the purple wires in the fuse box. I know from a schematic that the purple wires are supposed to be in the bottom right corner of the relay but I can't find the right spot under the fuse box. Any advice?

the power mirrors to my 2001 silverado do not work. I checked a 3 amp fuse labled mir/lock and a 10 amp fuse under the hood "htd mir" and both are good. No power to plug on armrest. I tested the switch and it appears to be good.
