It sounds like something is slipping when you stop

Sounds like your tranny has leaked to the point of not being able to engage the torque convertor. If enough oil leaks out, the torque convertor cannot function since it operates on oil pressure. I am assuming this is an automatic tranny. Get it to a tranny shop to have them replace your rear tranny seal and fill the tranny up again. (Unless you know how to do it yourself).

if ur seal is leaking fluid ur trans will slip and will burn up --rear seal is simple enough to repair unbolt driveshaft at rear slid yoke out of trans and and pry out rear seal careful with a tool or large screwdriver tap in new one with a large socket or seal seating tool

Sounds like your driveshaft u joints are worn out and need replacement and a bad extension housing seal.
